Learning 2.0

Learning 2.0 is due for release w/c 7th December 2015. The code has been refactored, to allow for better integration with other modules and a lot of outstanding bugs have been fixed. Please read on to find out about the changes you'll see.

1. Training Records, Certificates and Qualification Codes

In previous versions, both a Training Record and a Certificate would be auto-created on completion of an E-Learning Course or Training Event. The Qualification Code would be attached to the Certificate. In the new version, Certificates will no longer be auto-created. On completion of an E-Learning Course or Training Event, only a Training Record will be created and the Qualification Code attached to it.

Feedback we received from many customers indicated that the auto-creation of Certificates on completion of E-Learning Courses and Training Events was excessive and unnecessary. Learners could potentially end up with hundreds (or thousands) of Certificates, when in fact they should have just been Training Records. Existing Qualification Codes on Certificates will be migrated to the associated Training Records as part of the upgrade.

Certificates can now only be created manually from the Training Records page.

2. Learning Path Deadlines

In previous versions, users had the option to set a personal deadline when joining a Learning Path. This is no longer possible and instead, the Learning Path creator can specify a number of days to complete, i.e. 30 days after joining.

3. Certificates Grid

Previously, if you had a certificate, the system would take the images and create a grid of them in the sidebar (below Statistics). This has been removed.

4. Adding Path Steps

Adding a Step to a Learning Path now takes you to a new page, which is consistent with the rest of the module. Functionally, creating a Step is no different than in previous versions.
