What's up with the weather?

Public News | 31 March 2016 by Michael Christian weather

If you have the Weather Component on your intranet homepage, you might have noticed that it has stopped working. This is due to the changes that Yahoo Weather - which is our weather provider - have made to their API.

Yahoo, who provide the information needed for our Weather Component, now require some registration and payment details depending on the number of requests per day.

We are currently working on a new version of our Weather Component, which takes into account the changes that Yahoo have made to their API.

So what are the options?

  • Disable it - Rather than having component that's not working, we can temporarily disable the Weather Component on your intranet homepage whilst we work towards an updated solution. Simply submit a Change Request and we'll be happy to help.
  • Alternatively, it's possible to use a free web-based widget such as the one by Accuweather. The only downside to this, however, is that we can't style these.
  • Or, wait until the new Weather Component is released, and bear in mind that this may require a registration with Yahoo.

Have a great day!
