Digital Signage

Overview

Claromentis is a web-based software that can be accessed using an Internet browser without additional software.

Many digital signage solutions can display content from a browser or have built-in applications to display RSS content.

1. Rolling News using RSS

RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication" It allows users to share web content such as news headlines or blogs so that it can be displayed on another software or system. You can follow the following guide to publish news to RSS and check with your digital signage provider how to display the RSS feed.

2. Digital Signage Theme and Homepage

Most digital signage solutions can display content from the internet browser as long as it is connected to a network and has an internet connection. In Claromentis you can create themes with dedicated homepages to tailor the user experience.

Here are a few tips to consider:

- Create a dedicated user account to log in to the Digital Signage

Its recommended security practice is not to share login details, as an Intranet Administrator create a dedicated user account with limited privileges for Digital Signage uses. This also ensures the dedicated profile can only view/display the information you want after logging in.

- Creating a Digital Signage Theme

Users only need to see minimal information on the Digital Signage, which means a lot of the standard navigation controls and menus are not required, so can be hidden.

Create a minimalist theme for Digital Signage using the options in the Design panel when creating a theme:

Hide unused header items

Header items such as company link, bookmark, notification and who's logged on can be toggled off in the Digital Signage theme.

Choose the Sidebar menu layout

Ensure the menu is hidden behind an additional click rather than always displayed at the top of the screen.

Full width Interface

Consider using a full-width layout to maximise the screen size.

Auto Page Refresh

Implement Page auto-refresh to ensure up-to-date information will be displayed periodically on screen by entering the below in the Advanced tab

e.g. have the page refreshed every 5 minutes (300 seconds)

<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="300">

3. Creating a Digital Signage Homepage

Users accessing digital signage won't be able to see anything placed below the screen fold, so it is important to consider the orientation of the information on the page to ensure the message you are trying to communicate is achieved.

Consider the screen orientation of your Digital Signage and aspect ratio when designing the Homepage Layout. The most common aspect ratio is 16:9 in either landscape or portrait mode.
