Embedding Social Media

Embedding social media posts and feeds using the embed component can enhance user engagement, extend reach, and drive traffic. In this article, we will outline how to embed social media elements onto your page. You will need to start with the relevant social media accounts as they will likely require authentication to access the content.

Start by adding the embed component to the page and selecting the code option and following the steps below based on what platform you are trying to embed.

Facebook

Instagram

Twitter

Linkedin

Facebook

Step 1:

Go to

Facebook Page Plugin

Please note: You can only embed feeds from Facebook Pages, such as company or organisation pages on Facebook and not your personal feed.

Step 2:

Enter the Facebook Page URL you wish to embed, see example below.

Width: 280 if you wish to fit the embed into a single column.

What if I can't see the preview?

Please make sure the Page doesn't have any restriction at all. For example age or location restriction.

On Facebook Page, navigate to Settings and check the restriction as shown below

After removing your page restriction, please retry to re-enter the URL in the plug-in and you should now be able to see the preview and generate code.

Step 3:

Click Get the code

Choose IFrame Tab and select App ID, if you don't have App ID you may have to Create an App ID first with your Facebook Account.

Step 4:

Copy the code and paste it into your embed component.

Instagram

(A whole feed cannot be displayed as the Instagram policy does not allow this; to get multiple posts on an Intranet page you will need to use multiple embed components)

Please note: The account must be public in order to display the image in the component. If the account is private only a link to Instagram will display. When followed it will ask you to log in.

Step 1:

Navigate to the URL of the Instagram post you wish to embed on your page. Click on "More" (3 small dots on the bottom right-hand side of the post) as shown below.

A pop-up list will appear, select Embed from this.

Step 2:

As shown below, another pop-up will appear with the code you need.

  • Copy this code and navigate to the page on your Claromentis site you wish to display it on.
  • You can deselect the "Include caption" check box if you do not wish for the post's caption to be seen on your page once embedded.

Step 3:

Paste the copied code into your embed component.

Twitter

Currently, Twitter is not allowing embedded content to be viewed without logging in first. This is not something Claromentis can control. Hopefully, Twitter will decide to reverse this decision in the future so tweets are visible.

Step 1:

Go to

https://publish.twitter.com/

Enter Twitter URL you wish to embed for example https://twitter.com/claromentis and select Embedded Timeline.

Step 2:

Copy the code by clicking the "Copy Code" button

Step 3:

Paste the copied code into your embed component.

Linkedin

(A whole feed cannot be displayed as the Linkedin policy does not allow this; to get multiple posts on an Intranet page you will need to use multiple embed components)

Step 1:

Navigate to the post you want to embed.

Step 2:

Click the  More icon in the top right corner of the post. and then click Embed this post.

Step 3:

Click Copy code from the pop-up window that appears.

You’ll receive a notification in the bottom left corner of your screen telling you that the code has been copied to your clipboard.

Step 4:

Paste the copied code into your embed component.
