Allow users to sort search results by most recent date

Users are having a discouraging experience when doing any kind of search - whether it's a general intranet search, or in news, etc., and that is they cannot sort results by date. While it's important to return results by relevancy, it's also important for users to be able to sort by date by choice. For instance, I can have news content from a source that comes out every month. When I keyword search, they results come up in a random date order, so it's very difficult for users to see them in date order and find the most recent. This is also an issue when admin users search your own site for information on either applications or release notes - we have to wade through all kinds of random dated content trying to find the most recent and relevant, and it's very frustrating.
