Blogs FAQ's

Can I set up an approval process on a blog?

Yes! Any user/role/group you wish only to submit draft content for approval should be given 'View' and 'Add and edit' permissions:

This means when they create a post it can only be submitted for approval by others (or saved as a personal draft) and will not be made live.

For the users/roles/groups you wish to review the posts submitted for approval and have the authority to publish them, give them additional 'approve others' rights.

They will see the content submitted for approval by others in the Blog application and be able to accept or reject this, as well as make edits if they have this permission too.

When a user submits a post for approval, all users with 'approve others ' rights will be notified so that they can review the content easily without having to head directly to Blog to review what waits for their attention.

Please note: Posts saved as personal drafts are not accessible by anyone other than the user who created them. Only posts submitted for approval are accessible by users with 'approve others' rights.

What a user with only 'View' and 'Add and Edit' rights will see as saving options:

Generally, users who approve others' submissions can also add posts of their own to a Blog channel and do not need approval themselves. The permissions differences between submitters/approvers above are the most common way to set up an approval process but you can play around with the permissions available dependent on your user structure and requirements.

In the above example, all users in the 'Marketing' group will only be able to submit posts to the 'Intranet Advice' Blog for approval by those in the 'Administrator' role. Those in the 'Administrator role' can edit and approve/reject these posts as well as the ability to submit their own posts straight to the Blog.
