I would like to propose an expansion of the News API so that it supports not only read functions, but also the ability to create, update, and most importantly delete or unpublish news items through the API.
As more systems become integrated, we increasingly rely on external systems for operational tasks. This creates unnecessary manual work when certain functions cannot be automated, even though they could be implemented quite easily through the API. One clear example is the ability to automatically archive news items older than a set number of months.
