The ability to turn off notifications completely on any application

A vibrant 'intranet' system is great, especially when everyone's using it. However, this will lead to constant notifications which is a huge turn-off for any one wanting to use the system and when trying to tailor the experience to each person.

We have employees logging on and seeing that they have 100+ notifications just turning off which perpetuates the problem!

The ability to switch off notifications and manage one's own experience of the site would be great - we're pretty fortunate to have a lot of digital native users in the company.
